Michael & Bonni Hines, Williamsburg VA
We are honored to introduce ourselves as new members of the Open Bible East family and invite you to pray for us and consider supporting us as we plant a new church in Williamsburg VA this coming fall.
For much of the past sixteen years, we have served the ministry of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, spending five years in Israel and another nine here in the US teaching pastors and ministering to churches. From the time we first set foot in Williamsburg VA over five years ago, however, we have been struck by the intensity of the spiritual climate in this city. Not only is it the birthplace of modern America at the heart of the Jamestown-Yorktown ‘historic triangle’ but a place that is filled with the unchurched and de-churched - Christians who have turned their back on the Lord because they have been hurt by church.
The vision the Lord has placed on our heart for Foundations Church is, in many ways, in response to some of the things we have seen and experienced here in Williamsburg since first moving here from the Nashville area in 2013. Our heart is to model a Christ-centered, Spirit-dependent community that is committed to raising up authentic followers of Jesus who take God’s Word seriously and are equipped to proclaim its truth lovingly and faithfully throughout our community, our nation and the nations of the world.
Two other families have felt the call of God to relocate to help us: John and Natalie Vedder and their 8-month old daughter Myah arrived in June from Auburn AL, while Kris and Beth Olliff and their five children (including two newborn twins) are preparing to make a cross-country from Clarksville TN by the end of August. Both Kris and John have been involved with the ministry of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem and will assist Michael part-time in continuing to carry on his role as Church Outreach Director for that ministry in addition to serving on the pastoral leadership team of Foundations Church.
Please pray for the financial provision to launch well, the spiritual wisdom to build wisely and the anointing to serve those whom the Lord would call into our community faithfully. Please pray for the Vedders as they settle, the Olliff family as they embark on a challenging move in the coming weeks; Ron Monroe who is serving as our acting Treasurer and together with his wife Claudia who is leading our prayer team; Bonni, who is also running a growing home decor business to help support us as a family in the midst of this season and our four teenage children - Beka (15); Karin (14); Aaron (13) and Judah (11).
Our first public service is on September 9th. Come join us!
