Open Bible Churches East Region comes alongside men and women who sense God’s call to vocational ministry. Credentialing recognizes that call, confirms preparation and alignment, and places ministers in a relational family marked by encouragement, accountability, and opportunity.
Whether you are beginning your preparation, transferring an existing credential, or pursuing your next credential level, our team will help you understand the path and take the next faithful step.

How the Process Works
1. Get Acquainted — Submit the short Getting Acquainted form so we can learn about your call, background, and ministry goals.
2. Connect and Discern — A district or regional leader will connect with you, answer questions, and review the best next step.
3. Apply Electronically — If invited to continue, complete the online application and submit the requested references, education records, and supporting documents.
4. Prepare and Complete Assessments — Complete required screening, the Open Bible Doctrine Assessment, New Ministers Orientation, and any assigned competency preparation or coaching.
5. Meet with the Regional Credential Committee — Share your story, calling, preparation, and alignment with Open Bible in a relational interview.
6. Approval and Welcome — The regional credential committee makes a recommendation for regional and national review. Approved applicants receive their credential and are welcomed into the Open Bible ministerial family.
Preparation That Meets You Where You Are
Open Bible recognizes multiple pathways of preparation. Approved Bible colleges and schools of ministry, INSTE Global Bible College, regional competency training and coaching, and recognized equivalent programs may all contribute to credential eligibility. We will review your education and ministry experience and help you identify any remaining preparation.

Credential Paths & Common Questions

A transitional credential for qualified applicants who are actively developing ministerial competencies. Ministerial License holders continue approved preparation and participate in a regionally approved coaching relationship.

For ministers who have completed the required ministry preparation and demonstrated theological alignment, character, and developed ministerial competencies. This credential qualifies a minister for expanded responsibilities throughout Open Bible Churches.

Open Bible’s highest ministerial credential. Ordination recognizes seasoned preparation, spiritual maturity, proven leadership, and active, fruitful ministry. Applicants normally hold a Certified Ministerial License for at least three years before ordination.

An exceptional, restricted credential for a specific ministry assignment, objective, location, scope, or period of time. It is not part of the normal progression to other Open Bible credentials.

Not necessarily. Preparation may be completed through an Open Bible-certified college or school of ministry, INSTE Global Bible College, regionally prescribed competency training and coaching, or another program recognized as equivalent. We evaluate prior education and ministry experience individually.

Timing varies according to your preparation, required documents, references, assessments, and interview scheduling. Completing requests promptly helps the process move forward. Our regional team will keep you informed at each stage.

Credentialing and assessment fees may apply. Current costs and payment instructions are provided when you are invited to complete the formal application, so the information you receive is accurate and current.

Possibly. Previous credentials, transcripts, ministry education, and demonstrated competencies are reviewed individually. Transfers from another church organization also require confirmation that the applicant is in good standing, and additional Open Bible requirements may apply.

A divorce or remarriage does not prevent you from beginning a conversation. Open Bible approaches each situation carefully, personally, and with grace. A regional leader will listen to your story and explain the review process required by the Open Bible Manual.
