New OBE Pastors

Meet the Valentine’s

Hey East Region Open Bible family, we’re the Valentines, and we’re thrilled to be here in Acme, Pennsylvania! I’m Jordan, my amazing wife is Mia, and we’ve got five awesome boys: John Caleb (16), Jedidiah (8), Thaddeus (5), Judah (3), and Asher (9 months). We moved from Antioch, California, where we were part of the Pacific Region for years, blessed with incredible friends who poured into us and helped us grow as leaders. We’re so grateful for how God used them to shape us, and now we’re excited to join all of you. It’s already been a blessing to be here, and we can’t wait to meet everyone!

Here is a glimpse into our crazy family. John Caleb’s got a huge heart, plays in the marching band, and is learning auto collision repair at the local high school—I love watching him be such a great big brother. Jed, our bug fanatic, will talk your ear off about ants (some facts might be… creatively invented). Thaddeus is our wild child with a silly sense of humor and legendary photo poses—he’s racked up more ER visits than the rest combined, thanks to his fearless heart. Judah’s our sweet cuddler, keeping up with his brothers on scooters or catching bugs. And Asher? He’s the happiest baby, crawling into trouble and eating everything in sight. I couldn’t do any of this without my wife Mia—she loves Jesus, homeschools, gardens, cans food, and too many other things to list. I am incredibly thankful that she puts up with me. We met serving at Journey Church in Antioch (she was on worship, and I was the youth pastor), and after years of seeing each other’s love for Jesus, God nudged us toward marriage. I still look forward to getting to serve in the church with her.

I grew up in Open Bible, born in Pella, Iowa, then moving to Bend, Oregon, and Antioch, California, by 15. My parents are pastors, so ministry feels like home. I was a youth pastor at Journey Church for 10 years, ran district camps for a few years, and then served as senior pastor for four years. Just when things felt like we were healthy and growing, God stirred our hearts to step out in faith. We spent eight months training replacements, not knowing where God was sending us. With Mia pregnant with Asher and some scary test results suggesting he might not survive, we wrestled with staying in the safety of a church we’d been part of for over 24 years. But God kept calling us forward. In late February, I connected with Pastor Josh Grimes, learned about the Pastoral opening at Acme Open Bible Church, and we piled our family of seven into a van for a 2,600-mile road trip to check it out.

Now we’re here, trading Antioch’s sirens and gunshots for Acme’s cicadas and lightning bugs. We’re excited to plug into the East Region, serve alongside you, and build new friendships as we pursue Jesus together. Thanks for welcoming us!
