Pastor Jordan & Lindsey Lumbard- Lead Pastors of First Church of the Open Bible Dayton
New Pastors at First Church of the Open Bible Dayton Ohio.
In January 2026, the Lumbard family, following the leading of the Holy Spirit, stepped into Dayton, Ohio, to serve as Lead Pastors of First Church of the Open Bible. Jordan and Lindsey follow Pastor Gary and Angie Petersen, building upon a strong and faithful legacy that spans generations. That rich, multigenerational heritage is not just remembered… it is alive and evident in the life of First Church today.
Family Bio
Jordan and Lindsey Lumbard are deeply grateful to be part of the Open Bible Eastern Region family. They have been married for 20 years and consider their marriage and family to be their greatest ministry. Together, they are raising four daughters… Madison (18), Maiah (16), and twins Mackenzie and Mollie (9). Their home is filled with energy, laughter, and, of course, plenty of coffee.
Jordan and Lindsey come to Dayton after serving the past ten years in Des Moines, Iowa, at a non denominational church. During that time, the Lord stirred in their hearts a desire to return to the strength, support, and shared mission found in a family of churches like Open Bible. They carry a deep love for the local church and a passion to help people genuinely know Jesus… not simply attend services.
Their heart is to cultivate Spirit led communities, raise up healthy leaders, strengthen discipleship, and see churches thrive for the long haul. They are most alive when encouraging leaders, investing in people, and witnessing the transforming work of God in lives and communities.
The Lumbard family also has deep roots in Open Bible, with several family members having faithfully served in this movement over the years. Pastor Jordan’s parents, Mike and Pam Lumbard, are well known to many, as they lead our missionary training ministry, the School of Global Leadership in Trinidad. It is within this rich heritage that much of Jordan and Lindsey’s faith was shaped… along with their love for the local church and their passion for the work of the Holy Spirit. Open Bible truly feels like home.
Jordan and Lindsey are honored to serve in the Eastern Region and look forward to building strong, meaningful relationships with pastors and churches throughout the region.
By Pastor Josh Grimes
It often seems that whenever we say “yes” to the heart and plan of God for our lives, opposition follows close behind… through circumstances, the brokenness of this sinful world, and even the schemes of the enemy. Yet we are reminded in Ephesians 6:12 that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces. And still… God remains faithful.
Pastor Jordan Lumbard knew the Lord was leading him back home to the Open Bible family. With a clear sense of the Holy Spirit’s prompting, he began to pursue the call to serve as Lead Pastor at First Church of the Open Bible in Dayton (FCOBD), Ohio. Soon after, however, that journey was unexpectedly interrupted by a cancer diagnosis.
The path forward required a pause. Treatment began under the care of leading specialists, and through multiple approaches, Pastor Jordan and Lindsey held onto hope and the calling God had placed in their hearts. In time, with faith rising and peace settling in, the treatment seemed to be working therefore they stepped forward once again to pursue the call to come to FCOBD.
They came to Dayton to candidate at First Church of the Open Bible… and were warmly and overwhelmingly received. The congregation affirmed them with a strong ratification vote, and the next chapter began to unfold. Their home in Des Moines was sold, boxes were packed, and in early January they arrived in Dayton, eager and expectant to serve.
Yet the battle was not over.
The many Doctors treating Pastor Jordan determined that the tumors in Pastor Jordan’s neck were inoperable, though they believed treatment could manage the disease. He was referred to specialists at The James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University, just an hour away from Dayton. Even so, Pastor Jordan and Lindsey stepped fully into ministry, immersing themselves in the life of the church and loving the people well.
Then, only weeks later, severe pain struck… escalating to the point that Jordan was rushed to the emergency room at The James. The intensity of the situation brought a full team of doctors into his case. The prognosis was sobering, and discouragement pressed in hard. But even there… faith held.
Like the promise of Isaiah 43:19 reminds us, “See, I am doing a new thing… now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Though previous specialists had said surgery was not an option, a new team of ENT surgeons was brought in. After careful evaluation, they believed what others had not… that the tumors could be removed.
What once seemed impossible began to shift.
From no surgical options… to a discouraging outlook… to, in the goodness and sovereignty of God… what a BUT GOD moment.
The surgery was performed. The tumors were removed. What was once something to be managed has now, by God’s grace, been taken out. Surgeons are confident they removed all of the cancer, and pathology reports have come back positive.
As Romans 8:28 assures us, God is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
Pastor Jordan now has a road of recovery ahead, including some follow up radiation treatments as a precaution. But the testimony is already clear… God has been present, faithful, and powerful through it all. I TRULY BELIEVE GOD BROUGHT PASTOR JORDAN HERE for such a time as this!
Throughout this journey, the family of First Church of the Open Bible Dayton has surrounded the Lumbards with extraordinary love, unity, and support. It is a beautiful reflection of the multigenerational legacy of this church… a living testimony of the body of Christ in action.
There is so much more to this story, and you can follow along through updates from Pastor Jordan and Lindsey by following their Facebook Pages (links below). But for now… let us do what the Church does best.
Let us pray.
Let us stand in faith.
Let us carry this family before the Lord, believing fully the promise of Philippians 1:6… that He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.
And in all things… we give God the glory. - Pastor Josh Grimes
